Sakura Kinomoto was a normal fourth grader at Tomoeda Elementary School until the day she found the mysterious Clow Book, created by the magician Clow Reed, among her father's things. Sakura opened the book and found magical cards inside. She picked up the first one, Windy, and said its name. This caused a whirlwind to sweep away the cards, and that left Sakura with one card left over. Then the Guardian Beast, Cerberos, emerged from the book speaking Osaka dialect. He told her she must have magical powers, otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to open the book. Then it was up to her to get back all of the Clow Cards...

Once all of the cards were captured, Sakura then faced the other Guardian, Yue, in the Final Judgement. She defeated him using Windy to form a cage. This made her the new master of the cards, but she had a very difficult task ahead. Sakura had to transform all fo the cards into Sakura cards since they no longer got their power from Clow Reed.
